“One must take what comes, with laughter” – Olivia De Havilland
One of the most well known actresses of the golden age is the lovely and talented Olivia De Havilland. She has starred alongside some of the best actors and actresses of that era including Errol Flynn, Vivian Leigh, Montgomery Clift, and many more. What makes her so interesting to me is not only her impeccable career but the fact that she is one of the oldest living actors of that time.
Olivia was born July 1, 1916 in Tokyo, Japan. She is related to another famous actress of this era, Joan Fontaine. I will have to say I am a fan of both sisters but if I had to choose I would say Olivia is my favorite. She won me over in her roles as the sweet Melanie Hamilton in Gone with the Wind and Maid Marian in The Adventures of Robin Hood. She has made 49 films in her long career spanning between the years 1935 all the way to 1988. She has had a long and memorable career. She is by far one of my favorite actresses of this era and still looks beautiful at the amazing age of 102.
